When Transylvania County Farmer’s Market decided to take a closer look at their business model, they did something a little unusual for local farmer’s markets. They decided to create a business model based on sustainability and economic growth. They started a conversation with the City of Brevard to talk about quality of life, new business growth, healthy eating and farmland preservation. This conversation, this purposeful connection, evolved into a partnership with the city that included monetary support for the Farmer’s Market and inclusion in the city’s comprehensive plan.

The Transylvania County Farmer’s Market has seen explosive growth in the past three years. It is a community gathering place where folks come to shop, visit with neighbors, connect with local businesses and buy fresher, healthier foods. More than that, it has also created a space for new partnerships that foster and support local businesses and educate the community.

Take a look.
