Gardening is a great way to get physical activity outdoors, connect with nature, while growing your own higher quality produce. Whether you are a gardening newbie or a green thumb, gardening can be a great past-time and a fun, new learning experience.
Ready to get started? The Town of Waynesville will be implementing a seed lending library beginning in March 2014. The seed library, located at the Haywood County Public Library in Waynesville, NC, will provide community members with an opportunity to borrow plant seeds for easy-to-grow crops such as tomatoes, beans, peas, peppers, and herbs. Those new to gardening needn’t worry, the program will also provide gardening workshops and tips on how to successfully plant, maintain and harvest your crop!
The program is simple. Select plant seeds from the library selection. Plant the borrowed seeds in your garden and then return the next generation of seeds for others to borrow.
In order to borrow seeds from the seed library, you must have a Cardinal Library Card. Seeds are available to check out during normal library hours of operation.
