While one of the most important roles of the Lifestyle Coach is to facilitate the class, they also serve as mentors for each participant through their unique journey with the program<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About Program Eligibility:\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants are eligible based on the following criteria:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18 years or older with a BMI \u226525 kg\/m2 (\u226523 if Asian American)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No previous diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diagnosis of prediabetes within the past year or\u00a0 based on:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HbA1C: 5.7% &#8211; 6.4%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fasting plasma glucose: 100-125 mg\/dL<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2-hour plasma glucose (after a 75 gm glucose load): 140-199 mg\/dL<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes (GDM), may be self-reported\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants do not have to be an ethnic or racial minority to attend, but our classes are held to being 60% members of an ethnic\/racial minority group\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support:\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MDPP classes include an incentive program designed to increase retention and provide tools to aid in program success.
