We are pleased to announce that MountainElements, the regional Health Impact Assessment for Western North Carolina, is nearing completion. As we wrap up our assessment, we need your input on final recommendations and stakeholders roles. MountainWise invites you to attend a Symposium on Tuesday, August 26 at 1:00 pm at Lake Junaluska.
MtnElements
The Symposium will unveil the Health Impact Assessment’s (HIA) preliminary findings, including substantial recommendations on how to advance more comprehensive food systems planning for the region, its cities and towns and its counties as a way to improve the health of our citizens. Other secondary recommendations for overall community planning and economic development strategies will also be examined through the lens of public health enhancements. Community input is critical in helping us fine-tune these recommendations and will help us to identify roles that community members and other local organizations can play in continuing to improve public health in our community.

The Symposium format will be a combination of an introductory presentation as well as themed stations based on the many HIA recommendations and monitoring suggestions. We are inviting health professionals, planners, economic developers, non-profit organizations and members of the faith community to provide input.
This will also be the final celebration of the Community Transformation Grant (CTG)  Project in Region 1, providing a great opportunity to learn about regional and local successes.
Thank you to all of the organizations and individuals who have participated in the HIA and CTG throughout the last few years. We appreciate your continued involvement, perspective, and support.
